Treatment Options

When it’s time to choose the doctor to provide orthodontic treatment for you and your family, one of the things that makes a huge difference is the doctor’s experience. But the treatment options available can also make a big difference in the patient experience. That’s one of the things that sets Pool Orthodontics apart. Dr. Pool offers patient-focused treatment and all the latest options to make your time in braces or Invisalign the best it can be.

  • Early Treatment
  • Treatment for Teens
  • Treatment for Adults
  • Invisalign®
  • Damon® Braces
  • Appliances

Along with the American Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Pool recommends that all children have an orthodontic examination around age 7. While most are not ready for orthodontic treatment at this age, Dr. Pool can check for developing teeth and jaw problems that are often not detected at the dentist. We provide this initial exam at no cost, so there’s no financial obstacle to getting the information you need to make good decisions about your child’s orthodontic health.

Your child’s exam may reveal that there is reason to start treatment right away, put treatment off to the future or simply keep an eye on things. Many children will be placed in our growth and development program, with periodic no-cost appointments to monitor growth and ad any issues at the optimal time.

It’s important to know that it’s never too late to start orthodontic treatment. The benefits of a beautiful smile and a bite that functions correctly are important at any age. So don’t despair if you’ve never had your child examine, just get in touch to schedule their initial, complimentary consultation today.

Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment, and for good reason. By age 12, most, if not all, of the permanent teeth are in place and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites are highly visible. We can often take advantage of the remaining growth to make the necessary orthodontic corrections and create an exceptional smile for your child. And at Pool Orthodontics, our use of new technologies, like the Damon® System and Invisalign Teen® makes Dr. Pool the doctor of choice for teens and adults alike.

For most families, there’s no busier time than when the kids are in their teens. Our office understands the special needs of teens, from the sports they play, to the musical instruments they play, to their busy schedules – and we work with parents to make orthodontics fit the family schedule (and the family budget.)

After school visits at Pool Orthodontics can be lots of fun with kids seeing their friends from school, church or sports teams.

It’s never too late to get the smile you’ve always wanted, or address tooth and bite alignment issues. In fact, the comment we hear from almost all of our adult patients is, “I wish I hadn’t waited!” You can find out more about our most popular treatment options for adults, the Damon System and Invisalign, by clicking the corresponding link but first, take a moment to check out a few of the benefits adults get from orthodontic treatment.

The benefits of orthodontic treatment for adults are many:

  • Improved smile and appearance
  • Increased confidence; no more hiding your smile!
  • Reduced tooth wear from misaligned teeth
  • Improved oral hygiene (it’s a lot easier to brush and floss aligned teeth)
  • Improved periodontal (gum) health
  • Positive impact on bone loss

We can find a solution to fit your look and your lifestyle! Dr. Pool will discuss each option with you so that together we can select the best one for you. Orthodontics can change your life, no matter how old or young you are!

Straight Teeth Without Braces

WITH INVISALIGN® AND INVISALIGN TEEN®

Making the decision to straighten your teeth is much easier when you know that Invisalign® treatment lets you live your life the way you want to. With Invisalign® aligners, you don’t need to worry about the gum and mouth irritation other teeth-straightening methods can cause.

Invisalign® clear aligners take a modern approach to straightening teeth. Dr. Pool creates a unique and personalized treatment plan that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to move the teeth gradually into position. His patients love Invisalign® because the aligners are comfortable, removable and virtually invisible. These aligners are worn 24 hours a day and removed only for eating and tooth brushing.

Benefits

Invisalign In Warner-Robins

  • No metal brackets and no wires to tighten
  • Custom made for you specifically
  • Made of proprietary, multilayer SmartTrack® material to gently shift your teeth into place
  • Removable for special occasions
  • Fewer doctor visits required (approximately every six weeks)
  • Most people don’t even know you are wearing them

Pool Orthodontics provides state of the art treatment with Damon® braces. This revolutionary system utilizes a unique passive self-ligating bracket that holds the wire in place without additional ties or wires, resulting in a bracket that is not only very efficient, but easy to keep clean as well. Damon® braces use very light forces to achieve results beyond previously conceived expectations. Damon® braces are different than braces you may be familiar with; the self-ligating brackets don’t require “tightening” and the movement of your teeth is more comfortable and efficient. The time between appointments is often 8-10 weeks as the advanced system of brackets and wires moves your teeth into the desired positions.

Herbst

A Herbst is a "fixed" appliance used to reposition the upper and lower jaws. It uses the rear molars as "anchors" to either push or pull the teeth and jaw bones into their proper place. When anchorage inside the mouth is sufficient to get the desired results, the Herbst is often used in place of headgear.

Wilson Arch

A Wilson Arch is an appliance that moves the upper molars back without changing the position of the front teeth. This is accomplished by Dr. Pools regular adjustments as well as diligent elastic wear by the patients. The Wilson Arch is usually worn in tandem with a holding arch on the lower teeth, and after adjustments, the patients' teeth may feel a little sore for a few days. This is totally normal.

Headgear

In general, orthodontic appliances with external parts braced by the head, neck or chin are referred to as a “face mask.” These devices may be used to handle a number of particular orthodontic situations, but they all have one thing in common: They provide the additional anchorage needed to move teeth into better positions.

Some types of face masks have a strap that goes behind the head or neck; they use the entire head as an anchorage. Other types, called “reverse pull” face mask, have a strap that comes over the chin or the forehead; they can pull teeth forward. Face masks can even influence the proper growth of facial structures — that’s why it is usually seen on preteens, whose growth isn’t yet complete.

Advansync

AdvanSync is a "fixed" or "placed" appliance used in adolescents that have a small or posteriorly positioned lower jaw.  The appliance is used to move the lower jaw forward during the adolescent growth while simultaneously allowing the use of braces to move teeth shortening the overall time in treatment.
Unlike headgear, AdvanSync is hidden inside the back of the mouth and is virtually unnoticeable.  Unlike similar appliances (like the Herbst), AdvanSync is half the size for maximum patient comfort and range of motion.  It can be seen when a patient opens their mouth wide, but it does not come out of the mouth.  In many patients, AdvanSync immediately improves their appearance from a profile (side) view, in that it moves the lower jaw (and therefore the chin) forward.
