When you’re ready to consider orthodontic treatment for yourself or any family member, the doctor you choose makes all the difference. Some doctors haven’t changed the way they straighten teeth in decades, but not Dr. Pool.
The path to a great smile starts with a complimentary consultation, which is a no-pressure opportunity to spend some quality time with Dr. Pool, see the team in action, ask any questions you may have – and get the answers you need.
The Initial Exam
WHAT TO EXPECT
The purpose of your first appointment is primarily to become acquainted with our staff and determine the nature of your orthodontic needs. Dr. Pool will use this time to examine your teeth, jaws, and bite and decide if orthodontic treatment is necessary at this time. This appointment requires approximately 45 minutes, which is at no charge to you. TMJ exams are $95.00 to $150.00 and take about an hour. If treatment is indicated from this exam, the next appointment scheduled will be the Diagnostic Records.
Diagnostic Records
BUILDING A CUSTOM FOUNDATION
A complete set of diagnostic records typically include plaster study models, photographs of the face and teeth, and lateral head X-rays. This information is used to determine the best method of treatment for each patient and is the foundation upon which customized treatment begins. The charge for this appointment is about $175.00 ($275.00 for TMJ, Surgical, or Setups) and is due the day of the appointment, however, keep in mind that we work with many popular insurance groups.
The results of this visit will be discussed 2 weeks later at your consultation appointment which will be free of charge.

GETTING READY TO START
After Dr. Pool has evaluated your records, he will discuss your treatment with you in detail at the consultation. Any questions on cost, payment options, length of treatment, and other concerns you may have regarding treatment can be fully explained at this time.
Appointments
SETTING A SCHEDULE THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Braces or other appliances are placed at the initial banding appointment. This appointment will usually be scheduled in the mid-morning and will take about 1-2 hours. After appliances are placed, regular appointments will be scheduled every 6-10 weeks. Most adjustment appointments will be 30-45 minutes long.
Our regular office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Patients are seen by appointment only and we ask that you make every effort to be on time as a courtesy to us, and we will do the same!
If you are not able to keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It can be difficult to reschedule since most appointments are made 6 to 10 weeks in advance.
