Proper Oral Hygiene

TAKING CARE OF YOUR TEETH DURING TREATMENT

Regular brushing and flossing become even more important when you’re wearing braces. This routine is essential for maintaining the health of your teeth and gums throughout your orthodontic journey and even after your braces are removed. For adults with a history of gum disease, consulting a periodontist during orthodontic treatment can offer additional benefits.

Helpful Hygiene Tips

  • Brush your teeth after meals and snacks.
  • If you have eaten while away from home, use an interdental brush to dislodge food caught around your braces.
  • Rinsing with water is another way to dislodge food from your braces.
  • Floss at least once a day.
  • We recommend that you have a check-up with your dentist every 6 months during orthodontic treatment.
